December 3rd. “International Day of the Basque Language”
Hey friends!
A year has passed since the last communiqué that I published, and although I have been giving information about my movements through social networks, interviews and other channels communication, today is a special day and I have decided to compile the central lines of action of the past months and to mark those which will determine the beginning of the coming year.
The BLACK IS BELTZA exposition that we held in La Alhóndiga of Bilbao since November of last year ended at the beginning of February, but later I continued presenting the comic book in diverse countries where the graphic novel was published or where I was invited to participate; in France, Venezuela, Algeria, Japan…
There were also memorable presentations in theatre of the Barrio in Madrid and in Barcelona by Sant Jordi.
All current news about this project can be found on the webpage:
In Japan I presented the Japanese version of “Black is Beltza” with live shows with the band Tex&Sun Flower seed and, with this band I was invited to participate in the Esperanzah Festival, invited by Manu Chao:
I took up the challenge of the multi-disciplinary musical “Guerra” [War] contrived by Albert Pla and, together with him and Paul Refree, with audio visuals of the Nueveojos studio and and under the direction of Pepe Miravete, we held the opening in the Grec Festival of Barcelona.
In October we started the presentation again and almost every weekend we are performing it. It will continue until June of 2016.
Amaia Apaolaza, my personal manager and soulmate left us in July and on November 8th we made an emotional goodbye-homage in which we brought together all the members of Negu Gorriak together with the group Esne Beltza.
I have tried to support her loss by creating and precisely the work that we were going to present together I am presenting today: “NOLA? IRUN MEETS NEW ORLEANS”.
The new artefact made in the city of blues and jazz 10 years after Katrina, is made up of a CD of 10 songs and a documentary on DVD.
Precisely today will be the opening of the film in the Tabakalera of Donostia that has been organized by the Basque Film Library with my personal advice: “Katrina: 10 Years Later”:

Also today, and celebrating the day of the Basque language, we are opening a new website:
Among other information related to the project “NOLA? IRUN MEETS NEW ORLEANS”, you can also find something new in the section “AGENDA FM”, where I will go detailing the public agenda of the presentations of the where I participate, the presentations of the show “GUERRA” and other activities that are being programmed.
Finally, to announce that in 2016, from June 21st to July 31st, the exposition “BLACK IS BELTZA” will travel to Barcelona, specifically to the Creative Centre on Las Ramblas, “ARTS SANTA MONICA”, from where from the 22nd of June until the 10th of July I will organize parallel activities in the style in which they were given in Bilbao.
Among these activities I would like to bring musicians from New Orleans and to be able to put something together to present it live during those days. For now, GET READY!
Until soon and “LONG LIVE THOSE WHO FIGHT!
